Buildings that
hold still.
Studio Meridiano is an architecture practice founded in 2011. We work slowly, in stone, earth and timber, on sites we have walked more than once.

02 — Manifesto
Manifesto
- I.
Build as little as necessary — and that little, forever.
- II.
The site is the first architect. We arrive second, and we should behave like it.
- III.
Light is the only material that costs nothing and cannot be replaced.
- IV.
A plan is a promise made to the people who will live inside it. We draw slowly because we keep them.
03 — Practice
How a project
moves through us.
Phase 01 · Weeks 1–4
Listening
We walk the site at least twice — once in the morning, once at dusk — and interview everyone who will use the building. The brief is written together, then signed by both parties.
Phase 02 · Weeks 5–12
Ground
Massing, orientation, water and shadow studies at 1:500. We present three positions on the land, never three façades. The decision made here is the one the building keeps.
Phase 03 · Months 4–10
Drawing
From 1:200 to 1:5. Licensing, structure and services are coordinated in-house; every detail is drawn by the person who will answer for it on site.
Phase 04 · Until handover
Site
One of the partners is on site every week, without exception. The last drawing we produce is the maintenance manual — a building only starts existing after we leave.
