The house

“We bought the house for the light in the sitting room — everything else came later.”

The house was built in 1934 for the family of the town doctor and spent half a century watching Sintra from the same window. We restored it in 2022 with people who know their craft: lime-washed walls, reclaimed pine floors, and the fireplace exactly where it has always been.

We are Marta and Duarte, and we live in the house next door. We make the breakfast jams, we know when the Regaleira is quiet, and we lend umbrellas without writing names down. Four rooms suit us fine: we like knowing who sleeps under this roof.

In the house

  • Breakfast with bread from the town bakery and homemade jams
  • Garden with lemon trees and deck chairs
  • Shared sitting room with fireplace and library
  • Linen bedding and Portuguese wool blankets
  • Fast Wi-Fi throughout the house
  • Tea and cake in the sitting room, every day at 5 pm
