Catering Demonstration project
Travessa — event catering with a menu builder that prices itself
A set-table website for a Marvila event caterer: a guided menu builder with event-type presets, format cards, serif dish pickers and dietary covers — all feeding a live mono proposal receipt with a per-person build-up, staff count and an animated total that becomes the proposal request.
An event-catering kitchen in Marvila cooks Portuguese food that travels well — from 20-person office lunches to 200-guest weddings, on their own crockery, with their own staff. Their pain: every enquiry starts a week of proposal email ping-pong. The site's job is to let the client build the menu, see the per-person number, and send THAT as the proposal request. Linen, charcoal and saffron — a beautifully set table, not a corporate caterer.
What's inside
- Guided menu builder: event-type chips that seed sensible defaults, a 12–220 guest slider and a date field with a 15-day floor
- Format cards — plated +€4/pp, buffet included, passed cocktail −€2/pp — each with its one-line trade-off
- Seventeen dishes across three courses in menu-card serif, each with its own SVG platter illustration and +€/pp price
- Course caps with live counters, an always-available vegetarian main and a “guests choose on the day” note when two mains are picked
- Dietary covers — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, children — recalculated at adjusted prices as separate receipt lines
- Extras that know their maths: ceremony cake and extra hour flat, wine service and vintage crockery per guest
- Live mono proposal receipt with per-person build-up, dotted leaders, auto staff line and an animated total — sticky aside on desktop, bottom sheet on mobile
- Three signature menus (O Clássico 38 € · O Alentejano 42 € · O Atlântico 46 €) that load into the builder and reproduce their price exactly
- Proposal request dialog with deterministic reference, 24-working-hour promise and a 30-day validity date
- Laid-table SVG hero scene, napkin-fold card corners, reduced-motion support and full PT/EN bilingual copy
Build log
- Art direction — linen/charcoal/saffron tokens, platter brand mark, laid-table hero scene and napkin-fold studies
- Pricing engine: per-person build-up, format modifiers, dish maths, dietary cover prices, staff formula and extras
- Builder UI — event chips with seeded defaults, guest slider, format cards, serif dish pickers with platter icons
- The proposal receipt: itemised mono lines, cover and extras blocks, animated total, sticky aside and mobile sheet
- Signature menus that load the builder at their exact price, tasting card, honest numbers strip, testimonials and FAQ
- Accessibility pass — dialog focus, aria on steppers and slider, reduced motion — and PT-PT copy polish
