Not sure you can afford a website? Ask for a free demo first

2026-09-02 · 5 min read

The question almost nobody asks out loud is this one: "can I actually afford a website?". And because nobody asks it, most people never get as far as requesting a quote. They postpone. They patch things up with Instagram and WhatsApp, promise themselves they will deal with it when the business grows — and the business doesn't grow, partly because nobody can find it.

We see this every week. So we reversed the order.

See first. Decide after.

The usual way of buying a website goes like this: you ask for a quote, you get a number, you decide blind. The number scares you, the website waits.

Ours is the other way round:

  1. Two minutes of yours. Tell us the name of the business, what you do, where you are and what you have online today — it can be nothing. There is a short form for it.
  2. A private demonstration. We build a real page with your name, your services and your contacts, and send you a private link. Not a generic template with your logo pasted on: your business, in your language, designed for the phone of the person looking for you.
  3. The conversation, with something in hand. You see the demo, tell us what you would change — and only then do we talk scope and budget.

If you don't like it, nothing happens. No invoice, no insistence, no "just one more call". The demo is an offer, not a commitment.

Why we do this for free

Two reasons, both selfish enough to be believable.

First: building a demo costs us little. We work with AI-accelerated senior engineering, and a first page for a local business is exactly the kind of work that process makes fast. Showing is worth more to us than describing.

Second: the demo changes the conversation. With your website in front of you, you stop deciding about an abstract number and start deciding about something concrete — "I want this, with less of that, and the booking button at the top". That is a far more honest conversation, for both sides.

And the budget? The part that scares people

Let's be direct, because this is where most studios go vague.

There is no project minimum. One well-made page for a business that is just starting is as legitimate a project as a portal with customer logins. You won't hear "we don't do anything under X".

The scope adapts to what you can invest — not the other way round. Tell us what you can put into the project and we tell you, honestly, what fits in that figure: a small first version that solves today's problem, and a path to grow in phases when the business asks for it. Nobody needs to buy the website of two years from now today.

A fixed price, in writing, before we start. No running meter, no surprises at the end. The domain, the site and the code are yours.

If it doesn't make sense, we say so. There are cases where the right answer is "not yet" — and in those cases we tell you what you can do for free in the meantime (your Google Business Profile, for instance) and when to talk to us again.

And if your business is large? The process is the same. The scope changes, the phasing changes; the way of working does not. The same senior team builds the page for a café and the portal for a fifty-person company.

Who this is for

  • People starting out who don't know whether a website is for now. We built a two-minute quiz exactly for this.
  • Local businesses with no website, or with a 2016 site that no longer represents what they do.
  • Anyone who got burned once — paid, got little, the supplier vanished — and wants to see before paying.
  • Anyone who doesn't know what to ask for. You don't need to. Asking is our job.

Who it is not for: if you are still testing an idea and don't know whether anyone will pay for your product, a website is money standing still. Validate first — the “What kind of site do you need?” quiz will tell you if you don't need us yet.

What happens after you ask

You get a reply from a person, not a robot — by email or, if you leave a number, on WhatsApp. Then the demo link. Then, if you want, a short conversation about what you would change and about the right budget for your case.

You get no newsletters. We share your details with nobody. And we won't call you every day.

Questions people ask before requesting

Am I committing to anything? No. The demo is ours; the decision is yours.

What if I want changes to the demo? Great — that is what it is for. "I'd change this" is the start of the right conversation.

What do you need from me? The two minutes of the form. Final photos and copy come later, if we go ahead — and we help with those.

My budget is really small. Is it worth asking? Yes. The phrase "no project minimum" exists precisely for you. If it doesn't fit, we say so — and we tell you what to do in the meantime.

What if I want a big site, with a store and integrations? It starts here too. The demo shows the direction; phasing and budget handle the rest.

Ask for your free demo. Two minutes, no commitment, and finally an answer to the question nobody asks out loud.
